Hi there! I’m the new owner of the site, Kari. Heather is still going to co-web with me once in awhile so you’ll see a familiar face!

Anyway, just wanted to say a belated congratulations to Eve Myles and her partner Bradley for their new little bundle of girly joy, Matilda Myles Freegard. We hope the best for you and are super excited! You’ll be great parents :)

Top sci fi magazine SFX is currently running a poll for their annual awards – and there’s plenty of Doctor Who related entries to vote on!

Vote for Doctor Who in the Best TV Show category, for Planet of the Dead or The Next Doctor in the Best TV Episode section – or even Torchwood: Children of Earth Day 5.

Dervla Kirwan (Miss Hartigan in The Next Doctor) and Torchwood’s Eve Myles are nominated for your votes in the Best Actress category (although I went for Ashes to Ashes’ Keeley Hawes) while David Tennant and Children of Earth’s Peter Capaldi are nominated in the Best Actor category.

The Journal of Impossible Things, the Radio Controlled Supreme Dalek and the Doctor Who Classic Series Action Figures are available to be voted on in the Best Collectable, Toy or Boardgame section, while Eve Myles is up for Sexiest Female and there’s a threeway between Tennant, Barrowman and David-Lloyd for Sexiest Male.

Planet of the Dead’s killer flying stingray CGI monsters are nominated for Best Special Effect, The Next Doctor’s Miss Hartigan and The 456 from Torchwood: Children of Earth might be your selection for Best Monster or Villain, while Captain Jack’s sacrifice in Torchwood is nominated among the best plot twists as well as best deaths along with Ianto Jones sad exit.

Finally, you can vote for the Sonic Screwdriver as the best piece of sci fi kit or just plump for PC Andy in Torchwood: Children of Earth for the best fight scene.

With the winners of the SFX Awards set for announcement at the SFX Weekender in February, you need to get your votes in ASAP!

Vote now at sfx.co.uk/vote!

BBC Two’s University Challenge interested 2.91m (12.6%) at 8pm. The audience then dropped to 1.8m (6.7%) during the 8.30pm screening of Caribbean Food Made Easy, then the third and final part of Future Of Food grabbed 1.4m (6%) during the 9pm hour.

Over on ITV1, the half-hour You’ve Been Framed! managed 3.24m (14%) at 8pm, and the second part of Peter Bowker’s dramatisation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights averaged 3.99m (17.9%) between 9pm and 10.30pm, just beating last night’s opener.

The final part of Channel 4’s On Tour With The Queen bowed out to 870k (3.7%) during the 9pm hour, then 1.91m (11.1%) tuned in for the Big Brother highlights show at 10pm. Earlier on the channel, Doctor Dolittle averaged 1.05m (4.5%) between 7.30pm and 9pm.

This year’s five day event, “Torchwood: Children of Earth” was such a monumental success that I was left speechless when it seemed the future of the franchise was uncertain. At the time, John Barrowman (Jack Harkness), Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper) and even Torchwood creator Russell T. Davies seemed clueless as to whether or not the BBC would commission a fourth series of the show.

But finally Torchwood fans and WHOvians alike can breath a sigh of relief – as it seems that Torchwood Season 4 may finally be confirmed! Russell T. Davies broke the news exclusively to Torchwood Magazine, saying:

“I could write you scene one of series four right now. I know exactly how to pick it up. I’ve got a shape in mind, and I’ve got stories. I know where you’d find Gwen and Rhys, and their baby, and Jack, and I know how you’d go forward with a new form of Torchwood.”

While Davies is still uncertain what shape the series will take – another mini series or a full on 13-episode season, he seems very confident indeed that he knows which direction Torchwood will take. It’s his final sentence from that quote that stands out – “A new form of Torchwood,” I’d say we’re looking at a brand new team!

Of course it’d be difficult to carry on without a new team, the deaths of Owen and Tosh in season 2, and the controversial death of Ianto in Children of Earth has left the Torchwood agents a little thin on the ground!

Trevor Eve and Eve Myles star in Framed, a brand new family drama, based on Frank Cottrell Boyce’s best-selling children’s novel, made by BBC Drama Productions for BBC One.

Set almost entirely in Wales, the one-off drama tells the story of 10-year-old Dylan Hughes and his family’s struggle to keep afloat their small petrol station, which sits at the foot of a mountain in North Wales.
